4 high court chief judges sworn in

Four newly elected chief judges of different high courts took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday. Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli administered the oath of office and secrecy to Nahakul Subedi, Udaya Prasad Chapagain, Yagya Basyal and Hari Kumar Pokharel amid a programme at the Supreme Court. The Judicial Council on January 4 had recommended the names for appointment as chief judges of different high courts. As per the provision, the chief justice appoints chief judges on the recommendation of the council. Subedi has been appointed as the chief judge at Tulsipur High Court, Chapagain at Janakpur High Court, Basyal at Dipayal High Court and Pokhrel at Surkhet High Court. (PR)
