A municipal deputy mayor in Dhanusha district ripped the minute book during Sunday’s executive meeting after her demand to have an official car was not entertained.
Meena Kumari Yadav, the deputy mayor of Ganeshman Charnath Municipality, was apparently not having any of it when mayor Ram Babu Yadav tried to reason with her by saying that they did not have sufficient budget to provide her a car.
Dik Bahadur Karki, the administrative officer of the municipality, said the deputy mayor was upset because her demand was not incorporated in the meeting that had been convened to plan the municipal council meeting scheduled for next week.
“She tore the minute book when I tried to take her signature and stormed out of the room,” said Karki.
Mayor Ram Babu said his deputy was given a scooter two months ago when she made a request for transportation facility for official works.
Meena Kumari’s shocking behaviour has become a cause for concern for the municipal officials just when they are preparing to hold the municipal council meeting.
“The budget we have right now can barely fulfil our daily operational needs. We cannot blow our budget on a car,” said mayor Ram Babu.
Deputy mayor Meena Kumari admitted to tearing the minute book because she did not like the attitude of the mayor and the municipal administrative officer.
“They have been taking unilateral decisions and do not listen to me,” she said.
