This decision follows Supreme Court’s (SC) interim order issued Thursday against the government’s decision to shift the district headquarters of East Rukum from Rukumkot to Golkhara in Puthauttarganga Rural Municipality-12.
The residents of Rukumkot in East Rukum launched a protest after the Cabinet decided to shift the district headquarters to Golkhara in Puthauttarganga Rural Municipality-12. The agitated protesters had shut down markets and padlocked government offices, including the District Administration Office (DAO).
Bishnujang Shah, a member of the protest committee, said they decided to change their strategy.
“From Friday, we started stage sit-in in front of the DAO and organise banda from 11 am to 1 pm on a daily basis,” said Shah, adding that their protests programmes will continued until the government addresses their demand.
