Quake-affected families yet to rebuild homes
Feb 6, 2018-
Nearly 35 percent of the earthquake-displaced families in Sindhupalchok are yet to construct new homes, according to the Urban Development and Building Construction Division Office.
Tanka Gautam, the office chief, said shortage of skilled workers, price increase of construction materials and spending of aid money for other purposes were the main reasons many quake-affected families in the district have still not started building homes.
There are 78,537 earthquake-hit families in the district. Gautam said 40,350 families have applied for second instalment of the housing aid and 4,486 for the third and final instalment.
Sixty-three families, who were displaced after their settlements were rendered uninhabitable due to landslides and land failure risks, have been resettled to new areas.
