Prerana Koirala, Anne Mathema, Ira Rawat and Mahika Rana all lost in the girls’ singles pre-quarterfinals, while the only representative for Nepal in the boys’ singles pre-quarterfinals also crashed out.
Koirala lost to Rutuja Chaphalkar of the USA 6-2, 6-3, Mathema was subdued by Srinidhi Sridhar of India 7-6 (5), 6-3, Rawat went down 6-3, 6-0 against Chui Kei Leung of Hong Kong and Rana was overpowered by Yiming Dand of China 6-0, 6-2. Khanal also suffered a 6-3, 6-0 defeat against Jaishvin Sidana of India.
The hosts suffered the same fate in doubles event as well on Wednesday as Mahika and her twin sister Mayanka were dumped out in the girls’ doubles by Indian pair of Ashpreet Kaur Bajwa and Punyatoya Mohapatra 6-3, 6-3. Koirala teamed up with the American Rutuja Chaphalkar but were outplayed by the pair of Chui Kei Leung of Hong Kong and Sanya Singh of India 6-3, 6-2. Another Nepali player Prakriti Shrestha teamed up with Srinidi Sridhar but lost 6-4, 6-3 to India’s Smriti Bhasan and Hrudaya Shah.
