Fire rages in Badipakha
Fire-fighters are battling to control a blaze at Badipakha Community Forest near the Ramechhap District Hospital. All the forces of the district have been mobilised to douse the fire. Nepal Army personnel led by Nandabaks Battalion Chief Pramod Kumar Thapa, along with Red Cross volunteers and locals are attempting to take the fire under control. Officials deployed a fire engine from Manthali Municipality at the hospital premises to protect the health facility.
Nepal Army has formed a fire-line around the hospital to prevent the wildfire from destroying the hospital. Strong wind has posed a challenge to douse the fire which is swiftly spreading to other parts of the forest.
“We are trying to clean the upper part of the forest, but the fire has reached near the fence of the hospital,” Chief District Officer Dilip Prasad Lamichhane said.
Thirteen Nepal Army soldiers from Shree Jung Battalion had lost their lives during their attempt to douse fire that broke out in the same jungle eight years ago.
Fire destroys 10 houses
PYUTHAN: Fire destroyed ten houses in two separate incidents in the district on Thursday. The fire that broke in Airawati Rural Municipality-4 destroyed seven houses, said police. Similarly, fire destroyed three houses in Sarumarani Rural Municipality-2. The damage caused by fire is yet to be assessed, said police.
Forest fire leaves 50 houses at risk in Gulmi
GULMI: Forest fire that spread at Siddeshwor Community Forest in Musikot Municipality-5 of Gulmi district has posed threat to 50 over houses and sheds in Aanpchaur, Khawang village. The fire had spread from Malikachaur of Kurgha in Musikot Municipality-6 from Thursday. Although the security personnel and locals are making efforts to douse the fire, the fire is yet to be controlled until Friday.
