Seventh Himalayan Outdoor Fest this week
The annual Himalayan Outdoor festival, which features adventure sports in three different categories-mountain bike races, trail running, and rock climbing—is set to host its seventh edition between February 16 and 18 at Hattiban Hills, Pharphing.The annual Himalayan Outdoor festival, which features adventure sports in three different categories-mountain bike races, trail running, and rock climbing—is set to host its seventh edition between February 16 and 18 at Hattiban Hills, Pharphing.
The adventure sports have further sub-categories such as Down Hill, Cross Country, and Night Uphill Challenge for mountain bike riding category, bouldering competition, natural rock climbing for rock climbing category, and races of various lengths for the trail runners. The participants will compete according to their age and proficiency level.
The three day festival, which is expected to have participation from both national and foreign outdoor enthusiasts, also hopes to attract people who might have not engaged in outdoor sports before. Though adventure sports are the main attraction of the festival, the organisers also hope to provide a relaxed atmosphere for the spectators at the event. For this, there are plans to host numerous other activities that will include the Dyno competition, Slackline, Mini Ziplines, Pump Track, TNF Outdoor Training, Horizontal Bungee along with Kids Corner, Art Market, Outdoor Gear/Wear Expo, food stalls, live music with Joint Family Internationale and Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory, along with an adventure movie screenings.
Since the event hopes to promote outdoor activities, which requires the preservation of the environment, the organisers are encouraging the attendees to use the shuttle service provided by the organisers, public transportation or carpool with other attendees.
