‘Comrade Oli is PM for five years’
Feb 21, 2018-
CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the general convention of the unified party of the CPN-UML and the Maoist Centre will take decision regarding turns to lead the government among the party leaders.
The Maoist Centre chief and the former prime minister arrived at his home district Chitwan on Tuesday after two communist allies agreed to the bases for the party merger on Monday night. The meeting of the Party Unification Coordination Committee held in Baluwatar signed seven-point agreement to further the unification process.
“We will know what the general convention decides at that time. For now comrade KP Sharma Oli is the prime minister for five years,” Dahal told journalists at Bharatpur Airport. The general convention would be held by one-and-half years to two years, he said. He also said there would be two party chiefs until the general convention of the unified party that they proposed as Communist Party of Nepal.
“The party unification is in favour for the welfare of the state. It underscores the objective of maintaining good governance in the country,” claimed Dahal, adding that the party unification made strong base on the way to prosperity.
The UML and the Maoist Centre forged an election alliance that has sweeping majority in the 275-strong House of Representatives. The UML and the Maoist Centre have won 121 and 53 seats respectively in the Lower House.
