Children’s theatre fest at Russian Culture Centre
A four-day children’s theatre festival, featuring a total of 14 plays, is currently ongoing at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, in Kamalpokhari, in the Capital. The first day of the fest, on Monday, saw the staging of plays such as Tulsi, put together by students of Aakashganga International Academy, under the direction of Rupesh Magar; Satye Chitre-Charite, by students from Greenfield School (dir Dev Raj Joshi); and Superhero, by students from Bidhya Sagar School (dir Suman Ranjit). Under the non-competitive section, a team from the co-organisers Shailee Theatre staged the play Silver Hoof (Chandi ko Khur), based on a Russian folktale, directed by Aryan Neupane.
On Monday, the fest saw staging of plays such as Mhan Maina; Asthitoo; Aaula; Banduk; and Bal Shramshosan Ko Antya.
Moreover, the third day of the fest, on Tuesday, will see staging of plays such as Banita; Vegetable Competition; Chaityanath; Jhyauli; and Baalbaalika Lai Adhikar. The theatre fest will draw to a close with the staging of Kasaiko Jivan and the restaging of Chaandi ko Khur. The plays will be judged under six award categories—Best Actor award, for two actors; Best Director; Best Play; Public Choice award; and Best Emerging Actor award.
Organised by Shailee Theatre in collaboration with Russian Centre of Science and Culture, the festival’s selection committee picked 14 plays out of 35 submissions.
