The residents of Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpa, enforced a town-wide shutdown for the second consecutive day on Friday to protest the government’s decision to shift the administrative centre of Thulibheri Municipality to Jufal. 

 Arna Bahadur Neupane, a municipal representative, said the government had changed the municipal centre without their knowledge.

“There was no discussion at the municipal council about changing the centre from Dunai to Jufal,” he said. “This decision has angered the residents of Thulibheri wars 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, and 11.”

The Thulibheri residents who have been affected by the decision have announced an indefinite banda in Dunai.

They said their protest will continue until the government reverses its decision to reinstate Dunai as the administrative centre of Thulibheri.
