Province 7 Chief Minister (CM) Trilochan Bhatta has won a two-thirds majority in a vote of confidence motion in the Provincial Assembly.
At the assembly meeting held on Tuesday, 38 provincial assembly members voted in favour of the provincial executive led by CPN (Maoist Centre) Parliamentary Party leader Bhatta.
Ten members of the 53-member provincial assembly voted against the motion.
All 24 members of the coalition partner CPN-UML and 14 Maoist Centre members voted in the motion’s favour while 10 assembly members of the Nepali Congress (NC) and Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal (RJP-N) voted against the government. Four members were absent.
Earlier, CM Bhatta had urged all political parties to work together for the development of the province. “I won’t have any prejudices on development agendas. We have no alternative to fulfil people’s expectation by working together,” said Bhatta.
