The relief amount meant for the flood victims of August, 2017, is stuck at the Chitwan District Administration Office (DAO) for months now. The government had decided to provide Rs 25,000 to the flood-affected families to purchase clothes and repair their homes.
Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatta said the DAO was unable to distribute the relief amount because the concerned local units delayed to send the exact data of the victims.
“We have notified the local units to the correct the data, but they delayed to send the details,” said CDO Bhatta during the meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee on Sunday.
The flood in last August had affected all seven local units in Chitwan.
“According to the preliminary report, 503 houses were destroyed in the disaster.
The damage assessment report was not updated after that. We need a new data to distribute the relief amount,” said CDO Bhatta.
So far, only Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Madi Municipality, Khairahani Municipality, Kalika Municipality and Ratnanagar Municipality have submitted the updated damage assessment reports.
Rapti Municipality and Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality have failed to turn in their reports.
