Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC has said he will not accept any verdict given by Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli.
“I will not accept the verdict given by CJ Parajuli as it was against the principles of natural justice since the Chief Justice headed the seven-member full bench of the Supreme Court in a case involving him. I will not accept any verdict given by the bench of which the Chief Justice is a member,” Dr KC said after coming out of the hearing on the contempt of court case against him and Kantipur on Sunday.
Dr KC further said CJ Parajuli should resign from the post saying the Chief Justice himself had tarnished the image of the apex court. “Parajuli himself has offended the judiciary, justices and advocates,” he said, “That is why he should be removed from the post or an impeachment motion should be registered against him.”
Dr KC further accused the Chief Justice of working against the spirit of the constitution.
Last month, in another case relating to contempt of court, Dr KC had said he would not accept scheduled hearing on his case on February 20. Even then
Dr KC had maintained that the hearing has been intervened by CJ Parajuli and there an apparent conflict-of-interest.
Dr KC is protesting against CJ Parajuli since January. He announced an indefinite fast following the court ruling saying the decision to reinstate Dr Shashi Sharma was a “systematic effort to affiliate new (medical) colleges and to imperil the country’s medical education”.
Ever since, Dr KC has sought a probe into the citizenship and academic certificates of CJ Parajuli, charging him with lacking the transfer certificate and using multiple dates of birth in official documents. The CJ is found to have submitted multiple documents to government bodies, showing five different dates of birth.
