They have also formed a committee to exert pressure on the authorities to investigate into Sanam’s murder and bring the perpetrators to justice.
A resident of Urlabari Municipality, Sanam’s body was found in a boot of a Mahindra Scorpio (Ba 12 Cha 5963) on March 3, two days after he was reported missing.
Police have arrested two Urlabari locals Narendra Kari and Mohan Kafle, Tekraj Malla Thakuri of Kavre district, and Lakpa Sherpa of Jhapa in connection to Sanam’s murder. The suspects have been remanded in custody pending investigation.
“We demand police to carry out a thorough investigation into the case and strong legal action against those involved,” Urlabari Mayor Khadga Fago said on Monday.
Police suspect that Sanam’s murder could be linked to a botched gold smuggling case. Sanam reportedly had ties with gold racketeers who had been blaming him for the disappearance of 32 kg gold.
