Nuwakot festival earns Rs 20 million revenue

More the 100,000 people visited the 12-day festival held at Bidur with the slogan of ‘Prosperous Nuwakot: Our Resolution’
Mar 13, 2018-Handicrafts and agricultural products sold at the fifth Nuwakot festival earned Rs 20 million revenue for the organisers, Nuwakot Chamber of Commerce has said.
Chamber Chairman Tara Bahadur Karki said the festival aimed to promote local products. Local handicrafts and agricultural products made good sales at the festival, he said.More the 100,000 people visited the 12-day festival held at Bidur under the slogan of ‘Prosperous Nuwakot: Our Resolution’.
During the concluding session of the festival on Sunday, Nepali Congress central member and lawmaker Bahadur Singh Lama said he hoped the festival would propel the economic and commercial activities in the district. They also said such festivals could promote religious and cultural tourism. Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Santa Man Tamang, said the festival could catalyse economic prosperity in the district.
Artistes and artisans from different sectors made their performed and displayed their wares during the festival.
