At the TU grounds, TU cruised to a six-wicket victory over DAV College after the opening wicket stand did the job for them. DAV were restricted to 141-4 in 20 overs despite their opener Sudhir Chaudhary making a gritty half century. Joshi and Pandey then laid the foundation for victory with a 127-run stand for the first wicket as TU reached the total in 19.3 overs. The title also handed TU a cash purse of Rs 200,000 and runners-up DAV got Rs 100,000.
Joshi, who made 71 off 54 balls with six boundaries and two sixes, lost his wicket in the 17th over. With his dismissal, DAV managed to take four wickets in a space of nine runs but by that time it was too late. TU needed six runs off the last six balls and Subash Khakurel (seven) not out negotiated with the total hitting the winning boundary.
Pandey scored 57 off 51 with eight hits to the fence. Dilip Yadav and Nandan Yadav took two wickets each for DAV. Joshi was adjudged the man-of-the-final.
Earlier, Pandey removed DAV opener Gaurav Khadka (one) with a return catch before Chaudhary held the innings with two big partnerships. He shared 34 runs for the second wicket with Durgesh Thapa (nine) and 55 runs for the third with Santosh Paudel. Chaudhary made 64 off 48 with four boundaries and two sixes.
Paudel chipped in 35 off 36 with two hits to the fence, while Sanjay Basne (13 not out) and Bibek Rana Magar (12 not out) also made runs in double figures. Sagar Dhakal and Rupesh Shrivastav also too a wicket each for the winning side.
Pandey was named the man-of-the-series and walked away with a cash purse of Rs 25,000. Aadil Khan (batsman) of DAV, TU’s Sagar Dhakal (bowler) and Mahesh Khatri (emerging player) were other individual winners. All three took home Rs 10,000 each.
