The Global Adventure and Mountaineering Conference and Expo 2018 is scheduled to be held on March 23 in Kathmandu.

The three-day event will bring 60 speakers and will be attended by more than 250 participants, the organiser said on Sunday. The conference will focus on three areas—adventure sports, adventure tourism and environment.

The expo will feature exhibits and exhibitors from adventure travel services, adventure gear and equipment. There will be about 30 companies at the expo with adventure products and services.

The organiser said that the conference is being held in Nepal due to the remarkable growth in world adventure tourism—growing by almost 200 percent. Adventure tourism is the most impactful-resilient, inclusive and high revenue per capita tourist activity, it said. The vision of Nepal as the adventure hub for Asia if not the world is taking shape with adventure buyers and sellers transacting adventure products and services not only from Nepal but internationally as well. “We have confirmed 20 adventure buyers as of today who are operating commercially from the region. We also have confirmed 30 plus institutional adventure buyers from around the world,” the organiser said in a press meet.  “We expect about 50 adventure commercial buyers and about another 50 more institutional buyers to visit the expo to come from companies and institutions that are expected to be here in Kathmandu for their expeditions and adventure groups.”

In addition, the organiser has expects 3,000 visitors who are generally adventure buffs.
