The hearing was to take place on Sunday. The date for the next hearing is not set.
A citizen filed the contempt of court case against Parajuli on March 9. Manoj Kumar Adhikari, a permanent resident of Pepsicola, Kathmandu, registered the case at the apex court arguing that CP Parajul’s arbitrary character and working style had defamed the judiciary.
The Judicial Council Secretariat has already terminated CJ Parajuli citing his age. Parajuli later submitted his resignation to President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
Petitioner Adhikari claims Parajuli committed contempt of court by issuing death threats to senior advocate Surendra Bhandari.
On February 1, Bhandari lodged a complaint at the Kathmandu District Administration Office saying he had received death threat from CJ Parajuli. The DAO is probing the complaint.
In his petition, Adhikari has demanded “maximum penalty” for CJ Parajuli.
