Principal Shiva Karki was arrested on Friday night after a student complained he ‘molested her’

Mar 19, 2018-The Lalitpur District Court on Sunday remanded Gyan Kunja Boarding School Principal Shiva Karki to five days custody to investigate the case of molestation filed against him.

Police arrested Karki on Friday night after one of his students complained he “molested her”. Karki is also the president of Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal (Pabson), Lalitpur chapter.

In her statement to the police, she said she was weeping due to some reason on the top floor of the school when the principal approached her and behaved inappropriately.

“We are investigating the case,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Binod Silwal, Chief of Metropolitan Police Circle, Satdobato.

Karki has denied the charge. He insists he did not misbehave with the student.

“He says he saw her weeping and tried to help her.

He claims he has not misbehaved. That will be part of our investigation,” said DSP Silwal. “We will ensure justice to the victim.”

On Saturday, the victim and the school management committee discussed the issue.
