At a special programme organised by Green City Hospital on the occasion of 50th week of Ring Road Cleanup Campaign on Saturday, Chairman Dahal urged all to join hands in the campaign at a time when the country is involved in the mega campaign of nation building.
Similarly, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ said that it was necessary to launch a campaign against the waste as it is the enemy of the people.
He said action would be taken against those throwing waste in public vehicles as well as parking vehicles haphazardly.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet said the constitution has guaranteed the right to live in clean and healthy environment. He said all should work to build healthy environment, adding that the mega campaign should be launched by integrating cleanup campaign of all sectors.
Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Hari Prabha Khadgi, Mayor of Tokha Municipality Prakash Adhikari, among others, expressed their views.
The campaign launched on April 15, 2017 has so far collected more than 750 tonnes of waste with the participation of more than 25,000 people in the drive, said campaigner Lok Bahadur Tandon.
