The translation was done by eight different writers—DB Gurung (English), Gopal Ask (Hindi), Suresh Kiran Manandhar (Newari), Dhirendra Premarshi (Maithali), Gopal Thakur (Bhojpuri), Phulman Bal (Tamang), Rajendra Guragain (Bengali) and Laxman Kumar Newatiya (Marvadi).
“We have taken this occasion as a festival,” reads a press note issued by the publishers, Shri Lunkaran Das- Ganga Devi Chaudhary Academy for Art & Literature. “Because nine different versions of the same work will definitely have important contributions to the respective literature traditions, but also make readers and scholars of the respective traditions aware of the glory of Nepali literature.”
