The third day of the fest saw the staging of four plays—REBOTI, EIBOTI, SEBOTI (Sujata Priyambada, India); Desire (Yukko Chan Yu Kwan, Hong Kong); Seppuku: The Angels Are Back (Ari Peterse, the Netherlands); and Place Me Softly on the Horizon (Emily Wu and Michael Wong, Hong Kong).
The fest will wrap up with three stagings on Thursday—Kathasar; City Flesh; and 50 Years Remaining Unchanged. The festival, which was organised for a transatlantic theatrical exchange, aims to create a dialogue between different theatre traditions, said Ashesh Malla, director of Sarwanam.
“If Nepali theatre is to really prosper, it has to branch out and share its theatre tradition and as well as embrace theatre culture of other nations. This might also go on to help our tourism industry,” Malla said while speaking at the opening ceremony on Monday. This is the first time that Sarwanam is organising a fest of this kind. Featured plays come from countries of Nepal, England, France India, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Germany, Phillipinnes, Scotland and the Netherlands, among others.
The fest will run until April 5, starting at 11 am.
