Rajendra Dhami, chairperson of the rural municipality, on Thursday submitted a letter to CM Bhatta apprising the latter of the troubles the villagers have been taking to get iodised salt and rice.
“The people of Saipal are paying 15 to 20 times more for iodised salt and rice,” Dhami said. “This problem will be solved if the province government were to establish food depots.”
Saipal residents have also demanded for health, telephone and internet facilities, suspension bridges over rivers and streams, and early completion of Chainpur-Takalakot road.
Dhami said the rural municipality has presented the province government a seven-point demand for spurring growth and prosperity in the area. “Saipal, being the largest rural municipality in the country, is one of the most underdeveloped areas. We request the province government to introduce programmes and policies that could help develop our area,” he said. CM Bhatta has assured to address the concerns of Saipal.
