Deuba slams government white paper as ‘fabricated’
Apr 7, 2018-
Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the white paper on the nation’s economy issued by the present Oli government recently is ‘fabricated’ and ‘misleading’.
Deuba said this at the sixth National General Convention of Nepal Sarbajanik Sewa Karmachari Sangh here Friday. He categorically refuted the Congress’ role, as reported in the white paper, in bringing the ‘nation’s economy to the current situation’.
“It lacks credibility,” he said. Mostly the leftists headed various governments formed after the 2006 people’s movement in the country. The leftist governments in the past pushed Nepal’s economy towards deterioration.
Deuba said he would take the party to the first position within the next five years.
“The CPN (UML) and the CPN (Maoist Centre) achieved better results in the recent elections as they had an electoral alliance,” said the president of Nepal’s main opposition party.
Party central member Dr Shekhar Koirala gave a different reason for the party’s ‘unexpected’ results. The party suffered defeat as the leadership failed to make people aware of its role in development projects in the country, he said.
