Chand’s party men rob municipal office

They broke into the ward office of Hupsekot-3 and made off with office documents, a computer, a printer and a lamination machine, according to locals.
Pamphlets bearing the name of CPN-affiliated Hupsekot Gaupalika Janaparishan Nepal were also recovered at the scene.
Laxmi Pandey, chairperson of Hupsekot Rural Municipality, said that the pamphlets with the name of the CPN were recovered from the office building.
“People’s action has been taken to displace the local unit that is under a comprador parliamentary system,” the pamphlets read.
The incident comes just days after the CPN issued a letter to the chiefs of eight local units in the district, telling them to resign at the earliest.
The incidents of attack on the representatives of the local units have been reported in other places as well.
A group of assailants attacked and injured a rural municipality chief in Okhaldhunga on Wednesday while a ward chairman sustained injuries in similar attack in Chitwan on Tuesday.
CPN activists vandalise Ujjan Shrestha’s statue DOLAKHA: The CPN activists vandalised a statue of Ujjan Shrestha at Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-4 in Ramechhap district on Wednesday night. Shrestha was killed by the Maoist cadres in 1998.
His statue was unveiled on the premises of Arundaya Secondary School last week. Maoist leader Bal Krishna Dhungel is serving life imprisonment after the Supreme Court convicted him in Shrestha’s killing.
2 held in Udayapur blasts
UDAYAPUR: Police on Thursday arrested two CPN activists for their alleged involvement in two separate explosions in Udayapur district. Purna Tamang, 35, and Janak Shrestha, 40, were held from Belaka and Gaighat, said police. Fourteen-year-old Paras Rai was injured when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off at Triyuga Municipality-13 in the district on Wednesday. The injured, who sustained shrapnel injuries, is receiving treatment in Biratnagar. In another incident, an IED was detonated at a crusher industry in Triyuga-7 five days ago. Police suspect the hand of CPN in both explosions. (PR)
