Nepal’s GDP to grow 4.6pc: WB

Kathmandu

Apr 17, 2018-

The World Bank has projected Nepal’s economy to expand by 4.6 percent (in market prices) in the current fiscal year. The growth is expected to moderate as a result of the heaviest flooding in decades, a modest recovery of exports, higher interest rates and a tightening of credit. As departures of Nepali migrant workers going abroad continue to decline, the risk of a sharper slowdown in remittances and resulting adverse effects on the broader economy would increase, according to the World Bank. Nepal’s economy had grown by 7.5 percent (in market prices) in the last fiscal year. (PR)
