There used to be a time when a job hunt felt akin to a wild goose chase. With job listings scattered over many different newspapers, oftentimes without job descriptions or expectations, applying for a job was, more often than not, a stressful shot in the dark. But now with the proliferation of the internet, job hunts have become exponentially easier. Not only do today’s job portals curate a comprehensive list of vacancies across sectors, they also have various tools, search options and references that lets a job seeker connect with just the organisation that matches their needs and skill sets.
Here are four Nepali job portals that have transformed how we seek out vacancies:
Merojob.com
In operation since 2009, Merojob.com is an experienced player in the job portal market, with the company claiming to have garnered over 350,000+ registered job seekers on their website over the years. In addition to being a job posting site, Merojob also assists employers in finding, nurturing, and preparing the right candidate that suits their needs.
Like any other job portals in Nepal, Merojob has a list of job vacancies on its homepage. Clicking the job advertisement takes the user to the next page, which discloses information about the organisation, required qualification for the job, application deadline, salary, etc. If the user finds the job attractive, they can apply for the job through the ‘Apply Job’ button. Applying for job is easy with Merojob—once the user creates a profile with all the relevant information, the website creates curriculum vitae of the user. And during the application for any job, the same CV is forwarded to the employer.
Merojob has also been focusing on making the job searching process easy and hassle-free. A few months back, Merojob revamped its website to improve the user experience. The website now comes with a Jobkurakani section, where it posts some informative articles that help candidates better prepare for job hunts and eventual interviews. As a user-friendly gesture, Merojob has also incorporated a chat box on its website where one can drop their queries to the Merojob staff directly. It has also brought the Merojob app for Android and iOS platforms.
Merorojgari.com
One of the trusted names among both job seekers and employers, Merorojgari.com covers a wide range of vacant job positions in different sectors to curate them on their website. This includes listings of not just private firms and corporate houses but also vacancies posted by the Public Service Commission, along with sourcing advertisements published in the print media.
Merorojgari.com opens with a list of job advertisements on the left and a number of job categories on the right. Clicking any job ads will guide you to the information about the employer, vacant positions, number of vacant seats, necessary procedures for the application (if any) and the deadline for the application. The website has also included ‘Apply for this Job’ button at the end of the job information, if the vacancy requires an online application.
To ease the job search process, Merorojgari.com also comes with a search bar on top, where a job seeker can search for fields, including job position or company’s name and job location, to find vacancies that fit their interest and qualification.
JobsNepal.com
JobsNepal.com is a name that pops up anytime a conversation turns to vacancies these days. Online since the year 2000, this website is often touted as one of the best places to throng to regarding job vacancies and recruitments. In its 18-year journey, JobsNepal search portal has connected myriad of job seekers to employers and have built a big brand for themselves along the way.
Upon first glance, JobNepal’s website seems pretty crowded with job listings all over the homepage; however, all of them are suitably divided into different sections—Hot Jobs, Instant Job Placement, Most Recent Jobs—to ease the job seeking process. Furthermore, the website also comes with an Active Jobs by Criteria search field, where one can perform a filtered search to seek out the jobs that they desire. The website also has tabs for Job category, Job type and Job city placed meticulously on the bottom of the page. The website has a dedicated search box on the top, where users can explore job vacancies using their preferred keywords, and has also incorporated FAQs and a help section to assist visitors to navigate the website with ease.
Kumarijob.com
Online since 2014, Kumarijob.com boasts services such as staffing service, outsourcing, HR consultancy and corporate training, along with its job search platform. In any organisation, identifying the personnel that best suit the job is the most difficult assessment. As a staffing service, Kumarijob.com helps organisations find the candidates that are best fit for the job. That includes various phases of selection and different technical and recruitment tests and filters.
Employee turnover is not new to companies. These types of turnovers not only affect the performance of the organisation but also increase the operational costs. In order to avoid such scenarios, Kumarijob.com has also been serving as a platform that offers HR consulting and staff outsourcing solutions to its clients.
