The girls’ team, who lost 3-0 against India on the opening day on Monday, recorded a 3-0 win over Sri Lanka. Azaa Regmi inflicted a double bagel on Ruvi Rajakaruna Lewke-bandara in the singles match before Subhangee Laxmi Shah beat Ta Hasalir Gajaba 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. In the doubles, Shah and Aisha Dolkar Gurung combined to beat Gajaba and Nelini Methasa Jayasuriya 6-0, 6-0.
In the boys’ event, Nepali team consisting of Aki Zuben Rawat and Aarav Samrat Hada faced a 2-1 defeat against India before thumping Sri Lanka 3-0. Rawat suffered a 6-2, 6-2 defeat to Harsha Fogaat of India and Hada went
down 6-2, 6-3 against Vansha Nandal. In the doubles, the pair of Rawat and Hada overcome Nandal and Rushil Khosla 6-3, 4-9 (9-11).
The duo of hosts nation bounced back against Sri Lankan opponents. Rawat beat M Lisal SDP Goonetilleke 6-3, 6-4 and Hada crushed Vichinthya SR Nilaweera 6-0, 6-0 in the singles. They beat the pair of Nilaweera and Thilina W Dissanayake 6-3, 6-0 in the doubles.
In another team event, the Sri Lankan boys’ team thumped Bhutan 3-0 registering double bagel win in all three matches. In singles, Dissanayake beat Jigme Pema Namgyel and Nilaweera beat Tashi Nima Tshering. The doubles event saw pair of Dissanayake and M Lisal SDP Goonetilleke beat pair of Namgyal and Sherab Gyeltshen.
The Indian boys’ team beat Pakistan in straight set of 3-0. In the singles, Harsh Fogaat beat Muhammad Huzaifa Khan 6-2, 6-1 and Vansha Nandal saw off Hamid Israr 6-4, 6-1. In doubles, the pair of Fogaat and Rushil Khosla edged past Israr and Khan 7-5, 6-4.
The only girls’ event of the day saw India blank Bhutan 3-0. In singles, Durganshi beat Karma Yuden Dorji and Anjali Rathi beat Tenzin Wangsel Lhaden. In doubles Rathi and Shruti Ahlawat beat Lhaden and Kuenga Palmo pair.
The event, played under round robin format, features five teams in boys’ and four in girls’ categories. The event will played under round robin format with the top four teams making it to the semi-finals. The finalists in both the boys’ and girls’ categories will qualify for the Asian event to be held in Kazakhstan in November.
