The concert is the third leg of the 2018 edition of the annual concert series: Pheri Uthney Chha Nepal.
In what was perhaps the first time in Nepali music history, the members from the noted bands decided to perform as a single entity called Project One, in November, 2017. Project One consists of members from bands such as Mukti and Revival, Robin and the New Revolution, The Shadows, Anuprastha, Hari Maharjan Project, Tumbleweed, Kanta Dab Dab, Newaz, former members of Nepathya and The Axe.
The Pheri Uthne Chha Nepal concert series has been travelling around the country since April this year—as part of which, the band performed gigs in Chitwan on April 7 and in Dharan on April 21.
After the Banepa show, the band will embark on a yet another nationwide tour, according to the organisers.
Project One’s lineup to perform in Banepa includes Mukti Shakya, Robin Tamang, Swapnil Sharma, and Niran Shahi (on vocals); Hari Maharjan and Sarad Shrestha (on guitars); Roshan Kansakar on the bass guitar; and Nikhil Tuladhar on percussions.
According to the organisers, Project One will release their first album as a band in the second week of May. The band put out their first official music video, titled Pheri Uthnechha Nepal, in early April.
“The concert will spread the message of unity and its importance through music,” Bikesh Kayastha of the organisers said, “Unity is essential among Nepalis in these trying times, and we should face the problems, be it social problems or natural disasters, together. It is important for us all to think about it, realise about our social responsibilities, raise voices, oppose and confront anti-social and unlawful activities. The band aims to sensitise the public through music.”
