Budget session to start on May 6

Apr 28, 2018-The government on Friday recommended President Bidya Devi Bhandari to call the Federal Parliament’s budget session to start from May 6.State Minister for Information and Communication Technology and Spokesperson Gokul Baskota said the cabinet meeting decided to recommend to the President to call the parliament meeting at 4 pm on May 6.

The constitution says the president would call the parliament meeting following government recommendation. President Bhandari would call the second session of the federal parliament comprising House of Representatives and National Assembly.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sher Bahadur Tamang said the second session of the parliament would draft all the requisite laws. “We will write more than 110 new laws before September 19,” he said.

The government has to amend existing laws to adapt them to the new constitution, besides drafting new laws to implement fundamental rights. The new constitution calls for implementing fundamental rights by drafting necessary laws within three years of promulgating the constitution.

The cabinet today decided to publish in the National Gazette a notice on the jurisdiction of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Birgunj Customs Office that the Government of India funded.  

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi had jointly inaugurated it from Hyderabad House in New Delhi on April 7 during PM Oli’s recent visit to India.

The cabinet agreed in principle to grant the Ministry of Home Affairs the responsibility to draft a bill regarding internal peace and order.

The government decided to appoint Joint Government Attorney Rama Devi Parajuli as a member of the Foreign Employment Tribunal.
