The photo stories produced during the two-week long workshop were made public through multimedia presentations.
This was Photo Circle’s ‘Level 3’ workshop featuring 14 intermediate photographers, and saw participation of photographers such as Rohan Bataju, Jyoti Shrestha, Nitisha Bhandari, Prabin Ranabhat, Gyanu Adhikari, Pramin Manandhar, Sabrina Dangol, Nimi Lama, NIkesh Invincible, Rochak Timilsina, Arjawa Shrestha, Nabaraj Regmi, Simon Pradhan, Bishwas Pun Magar.
During the workshop, the participants were led through series of introductions to world history of photography, Nepali history, and the elements of photography, ethics, and visual styles, among others.
The works on display cover a large terrain of subjects; some works are personal while some touch upon large socio-political context and history.
Speaking to the Post, Sagar Chhetri, who coordinated the workshop, shared that the main objective of the programme was to guide the photographers through composition, aesthetics and history of photography, and prod them to explore their perspectives when telling a story through photographs. “It is basically a learning initiative, wherein we help the up and coming and established photographers to hone their skills and bring out their work that either tells some personal story or touches upon some socio-political context,” Chhetri said.
“The output of the current workshop includes poignant stories ranging from a personal story on menstruation to the documentation of Tundhikhel.”
Aside from the one-day exhibit, photo.circile has also announced a three-legged seminar on archiving and historical memory, which is to start on Monday.
