Tiwari lifts amateur title
Rabindra Tiwari clinched the Hyundai Open golf tournament with the score of 41 points at the Gokarna Golf Course on Saturday. Bharat Bastakoti and Bhairaja Pandey were tied for second position but the former finished as runner-up on countback. Bastakoti scored 20 against 19 of Pandey. Bastakoti received gift voucher worth Rs 50,000 and a smart phone. Third-placed Pandey got gift vouchers worth Rs 20,000 and a smart phone.
Prithvi Malla won the best gross award with 39 points. Malla sank birdies on third, fifth, sixth and 12th holes against a lone bogey on the first. He was rewarded with gift voucher worth Rs 50,000 and a smart phone. Miae Li of South Korean won the ladies title with 42 points. She received gift voucher worth Rs 20,000 and a smart phone.
Sadbhav Acharya claimed the junior category title with 39 points and received gift voucher worth Rs 20,000 and a smart phone. Gaurav SJB Rana won the senior category (age 60 & above) title with 35 points. Madhav Simkhada won the Hyundai car owners category.
Tashi Dong got the longest drive, Hridesh Kumar Singh had the closest-to-the-pin and Vijay Shrestha Einhaus got the most birdies (four) award on countback. In all, 127 amateur golfers took part in the event sponsored by Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd, the sole distributor of Hyundai cars in Nepal.
