NRA relocates 46 quake-hit families
NRA has so far resettled 66 of the 324 families living in landslide-prone areas in Nuwakot district
May 1, 2018-Earthquake-stricken families from Dhyangphedi of Dupcheswor Rural Municipality-1 have been relocated to Shikharbensi. The National Reconstru-ction Authority (NRA) had bought a land at Ramati area in Shikarbensi to relocate 46 families who were displaced by the earthquake of April 25, 2015.
Ved Prasad Gaudel of the NRA District Coordination Committee Secretariat said 19 ropanis of land was bought from Aitman Tamang, Damai Singh Tamang and Yadu Kumar Adhikari for Rs 9.2 million to rehabilitate the earthquake-displaced families.The NRA is preparing to construct an integrated settlement to house the 46 families.
Gaudel said the NRA is also looking for a site to relocate 28 more families from Dhyangphedi.
Most of the homes in Dhyangphedi were swept away by landslides triggered by the Gorkha Earthquake. The village inhabitants have been living in temporary huts for the past three years.
According to the government, 324 families in Nuwakot district are living in landslide-prone areas after the earthquake.
The NRA has resettled 66 of these families so far.
