The 42.195km race has been organised regularly since 2016 in the region to boost tourism in the area that was left devastated after the Great Quake of April 25, 2015. “The Langtang region holds a lot of tourism prospects but due to the earthquake and lack of proper promotional tools, we have not been able to take more tourists there,” said Navaraj Dahal, the TAAN president.
“The Langtang marathon will be participated in by foreign runners as well and this will be a great tool of promotion for us to boost the tourism in the region,” added Dahal.
The race will begin from an altitude of 3870 metres in Kyanjing Gompa at the Langtang National Park
and end at Syaphrubeshi passing through Ghoda Tabela, Lama Hotel, Rimche, Sherpagaun, Kangjim, Bridhim and Ling Ling.
The organisers are expecting at least 100 runners but they are not yet sure about the number of foreign runners competing in the event. The top three finishers will get Rs 105,000, Rs 78, 750 and Rs 52, 500. In the first two editions, runners from Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Armed Police Force Club dominated the race by claiming the podium places.
