The Province 2 CM had sought permission from the federal government to travel to the US to attend a programme organised by the Madhesi Association in America.
The federal government has declined CM Raut’s request, citing that the province government is yet to prepare annual policies and programmes, and budget for the next fiscal year. “The legislative body is still preparing to formulate vital laws, hence Raut should give more time to his province instead of embarking on any foreign visits,” the federal government said in a statement.
Province 2 CM Raut had made controversial remarks during the civil reception programme held in Janakpur in the honour of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the constitution of Nepal was biased against the Madhesi people.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had also objected to his remarks during his address at the federal parliament.
