Crews pick 35 tonnes of waste

Volunteers removed 35 tonnes of garbage from various rivers in Kathmandu Valley and the Ring Road area.

 In the 263rd week of the Bagmati Cleaning Campaign, volunteers removed five tonnes of waste from Mahadevsthan area in Koteshwor.

The Bagmati Civilisation Development Committee (BCDC), comprising volunteers from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nyano Sparsha, Muktinath Development Bank, Reikui Nepal, and the Thakuri Society, participated in the campaign. Campaigner Mala Kharel said more than 375 volunteers took part.

Nepal’s Ambassador to China and former chief secretary, Leela Mani Poudyal, who initiated the campaign, attended the event.

Volunteers cleaned Kolmati River along wards 2 and 4 in Gokarneshwor Municipality. Other volunteers removed one tonne of rubbish from Ratopul-Kalopul-Sifal area during the 218th week of the Rudramati cleanliness campaign and Around 350 volunteers removed one tonne of waste from Siddheshwor area of Tokha Municipality-9 in the 190th week of Bishnumati Cleanliness Campaign.

More than 100 volunteers removed waste from Jadibuti vegetable market based in Kathmandu Metropolis City-32 in the 61st week of Manohara River Cleanliness Campaign.

Volunteers removed 18 tonnes of waste from the area between the Tribhuvan Airport and Singamangal in the 59th week of the Chakrapath Cleanliness Campaign.

More than 450 people including NA, Nepal Police personnel and representatives from Nyano Sparsha and Kathmandu Valley Development Authority took part.

As part of Aloknagar Area Cleanliness Campaign, participants from Matrishakti removed around one tonne of rubbish.

Under the 41st week of the Chakrapath Bafal Section Cleanliness Campaign, participants removed seven tonnes of rubbish from the area between Syuchatar to Bafal Bridge.

Volunteers also removed mounds of waste deposited while transporting materials to Sisdole landfill site.

Campaing leaders praised the efforts of all volunteers.
