Ruling party panel to mull four key topics

According to NCP central committee member Bishnu Rijal, the meeting will discuss on four agendas, including giving final shape to the draft statute and regulation of the party and the upcoming China visit of Prime Minister and the party Co-chairman KP Sharma Oli. He added that the meeting of the party’s central secretariat will take place before the Standing Committee meeting.
The nine-member central secretariat, which is the most powerful committee in the party, will discuss the agendas before to the standing committee meeting.
The NCP central secretariat comprise of two co-chairmen, Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Bam Dev Gautam, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Ishwor Pokhrel, Ram Bahadur Thapa and Bishnu Poudel.
A task force, led by Poudel, has already submitted the draft statute and regulations of the party to the party co-chairmen.
The standing commitee meeting will deliberate on the drafts and incorporate inputs from the members before approving the statute and regulations of the party. According to Devkota, the statute has proposed 32 departments which will support the ministries and provide policy support to the government.
The central departments will comprise 35 members, including a chief, deputy chief and secretary.
The central committee will depute chief and deputy chief, while the department selects its secretary.
The department of provincial committees will have 15 members, while the the district committees will have 11 members each.
