Jun 20, 2018-

Football mania is sweeping the entire globe. Is there anyone who isn’t enchanted by the World Cup? I would not trust that person if I ever met them. Every four years, the World Cup brings the world together and this summer’s football carnival promises to enthrall.

The World Cup is probably the biggest and most watched tournament in the world where 32 participating nations vie for football’s most coveted title. Every football fan looks forward to watch the spectacle of the World Cup. There is no limit to the love and excitement of the fans.

Even an introvert like me can get along with strangers while talking about football. I have now come to realise that football conquers all. Almost every person, young and old, allocates time to enjoy watching this beautiful game. Hooligans and football ultras add spice to the drama and unpredictability of the game. Observing and speculating the audacious acts of nutty fans provides unbounded entertainment to viewers. Nevertheless, brutal and nefarious acts in the name of supporting one’s country and team are worrisome. Insularity and chauvinism isn’t the spirit of the game of football. That’s why, all of us ought to learn to act responsibly and respect the sentiments of opposing fans. What we need to realise is that we are sharing this planet and we can make the most out of this fabulous summer by showing respect, responsibility, and solidarity.

Let’s enjoy this wonderful month responsibly!
