President Bhandari extends tribute

President Bidya Devi Bhandari extended her condolence to the family of Dr Upendra Devkota on Tuesday. The President’s Chief Personal Secretary, Bheshraj Adhikari, reached the Bansbari-based Neuro Hospital on Tuesday and conveyed her condolence message to Devkota’s wife Dr Madhu Devkota Dixit and daughters. Dr Devkota’s death has caused an irreparable loss to the health sector of the country, the President said in her message.

His contributions won’t be forgotten: Prime Minister

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli took to Twitter to condole the death of Dr Upendra Devkota on Monday. “The nation would forever remember the contributions of Dr Devkota in the field of medical science,” the PM wrote. He also expressed thoughts and prayers for Dr Devkota’s family.

Irreparable loss: Nepali Congress

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) on Tuesday issued a statement expressing sorrow over the passing of senior neurosurgeon Dr Upendra Devkota.

The passing of Dr Devkota, who saved the lives of thousands of people, is an irreparable loss to the nation, the party said in its statement.

A meeting of the NC Central Committee held in Hetauda also observed a minute silence in memory of Dr Devkota.

Bhattarai recalls time spent with his childhood friend

KATHMANDU: Coordinator of Naya Shakti Party, Nepal, Baburam Bhattarai, also the childhood friend of Dr Upendra Devkota, remembered the eight years the two spent together at Amar Jyoti High School in Gorkha and at Amrit Science College in Kathmandu. “Your contributions to Nepal and Nepalis will always be remembered by posterity,” Bhattarai wrote in his Twitter after hearing about Dr Devkota’s death on Monday.
