The draft of the procedure formulated by the three-member subcommittee comprising Yogesh Bhattarai, Pushpa Bhusal and Shiva Kumar Mandal Kewat was approved by the full committee.
The PHSC said in a notice that it will start its business with the hearing of Deepak Raj Joshee, whom the Constitutional Council has recommended for appointment as the chief justice.
Kewat told the Post that the next meeting of the PHSC will call for complaints against Joshee, if any, to be raised with him. Article 292 of the Constitution of Nepal makes hearing mandatory for the appointment of Supreme Court judges, members of the Judicial Council, chiefs and members of constitutional bodies and ambassadors.
Four months since the first meeting of the federal parliament, only one of the 16
committees has been formed.
