Jul 18, 2018-
A 13-year-old girl from Rautahat was abducted and repeatedly raped by her captors for nearly two months before abandoning her on the street of Birgunj in Parsa district.
Police said the girl was abducted by three men from her neighbourhood in Gujara Municipality-4 on May 7. The girl was then taken to places like Sarlahi, Parsa and Mainatar in India by the three men who repeatedly raped and abused her.
The girl was found on the street of Birgunj on July 11, more than two months after she was abducted. She looked dishevelled and confused when Parsa district police found her in Birgunj.
She was handed over to the Area Police Office in Garuda, Rautahat, where her father had filed the abduction report.
Based on the girl’s statement, police arrested the three men-- Balistar Chaudhary, 35, Dharmendra Kumar Chaudhary, 24, and Jiyalal Mahato, 19, of Gujara Municipality-4. They were paraded before the media on Tuesday.
The girl’s father said one of the accused men, Balistar, who owns a pharmacy in the village, used to harass and pass lewd comments at his daughter in the past.
He had even shared his suspicion with police.
Balistar was held for questioning but he was soon released because there was no evidence to prove his involvement in the girl’s abduction, said Police Inspector Chaturbhuj Ojha of Area Police Office in Garuda.
Police only began to suspect Balistar after he fled the village shortly after he was released.
