‘Govt will not accept Dr KC’s Satyagraha’
Jul 24, 2018-
Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the ruling Nepali Communist Party (NCP) will never buckle under the pressure put by Dr Govinda KC.
“The government cannot address the undue demands put forth as a Satyagraha movement by Dr KC. The communist party does not accept Satyagraha,” Gurung said while addressing the 40th memorial day of NCP founding leader Pushpa Lal Shrestha.
Gurung, who was elected as the chief minister from the NCP, asserted that the government which has nearly two-thirds majority would pass its own agenda. “Dr KC’s demands are mere agendas set by the Nepali Congress (NC),” he said.
Dr KC is on a hunger strike for the last 24 day demanding reforms in the country’s medical education sector.
Blaming Dr KC of becoming a mouthpiece for NC, Gurung claimed that the country was in a bad state because the NC was in the governing seat for 22 years after the restoration of democracy in 1990.
In Gorkha, the NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha urged political parties, civil society and general public not to politicise the agenda of Dr KC.
He claimed that attempts were being made to fail the government by using Dr KC as a political pawn.
