Three persons perish in Rolpa landslide

At least three people were killed after a landslide buried a shed at Phuldhara in Sunil Smriti Rural Municipality-8, Rolpa, on Monday morning.
The District Police Office said 18-year-old Chameli Pun, 12-year-old Obi Gharti and 18-year-old Hume Gharti were asleep in the shed when the landslide struck killing them on the spot. Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Prasad Phuyal said on Monday that they were preparing to bring the bodies to the district headquarters.
More than 70 homes at risk in Nuwakot
NUWAKOT: Incessant rains have triggered a swarm of landslides in Sauryagadhi, Tadi and Shivapuri rural municipalities in Nuwakot district.
Local residents said the landslides have affected Chogate village in Sauryagadhi, Banchare in Tadi and Diyale in Shivapuri. Police said more than 70 families are at high risk of landslides.
Landslides in various parts of the district had swept away four houses recently.
Panel formed to help flood victims
SURKHET: The government of Karnali Province has formed a high-level committee to resettle the families displaced by flood in Surkhet district four years ago.
A Cabinet meeting formed the committee, led by the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Naresh Bhandari, to rehabilitate the flood-affected families, officials said. The provincial government had been facing criticism for ignoring the flood victims in Surkhet.
