Engineer held with Rs3.6m bribe

The Commission for Investigation for Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Saturday arrested chief engineer at the Urban Development and Building Construction Division Office in Rupandehi district with Rs 3.6 million bribe. The CIAA team from Hetauda detained Suresh Thakur and his wife from Bhairahawa while they were heading towards their home in Birgunj. A CIAA officer said the anti-graft team recovered some amount of the bribe and confiscated bank vouchers of the remaining amount. A CIAA team from Butwal arrested Tamghas-Simaltari-Pyuthan road project sub-engineer Prakash Jha with Rs 100,000 bribe from his home in Tamghas, Gulmi, on Saturday morning. (PR)
