Rescued male tiger dies in Kasara

CHITWAN

Aug 5, 2018-

An injured adult male tiger, rescued two months ago, died in the course of treatment in Chitwan National Park (CNP). CNP Assistant Conservation Officer Nurendra Aryal said the injured tiger died on Tuesday. Officials resuced the tiger from Bhandara Pyaridhap area in the buffer zone on May 28. CNP officials suspect the tiger was injured in a fight with another tiger. It had injuries in backbone, claws and mouth. “We had rescued the tiger near a settlement. It died during treatment at Kasara,” said Aryal. According to the tiger census held in 2013, CNP had 120 adult tigers of the total 198 in the country. Tiger population might have decreased in CNP since then. Six tigers were found dead in the park area last year.  (PR)
