Roadies roar into Butwal
Following the warm reception of its maiden episode, the second iteration of the Himalaya Roadies—the Nepali counterpart to the hit Indian franchise MTV Roadies—rumbled into Butwal for its second of 18 episodes. Like the first edition, the second episode also featured an audition that saw aspiring Roadies put to task by the judges over two gruelling rounds.Following the warm reception of its maiden episode, the second iteration of the Himalaya Roadies—the Nepali counterpart to the hit Indian franchise MTV Roadies—rumbled into Butwal for its second of 18 episodes. MTV Roadies, which has proven to be one of the biggest reality shows in South Asia, is a show where a group of contestants travel to different destinations and participate in various tasks that challenge their physical and mental strength. During the course of the journey, there are vote outs, vote ins, eliminations and game changing twists. Eventually, the contestant who manages to survive vote outs and succeeds in the final task is chosen as the winner.
Envisioned in the same format, Himalaya Roadies-Wild Wild West will travel to five different cities—Kathmandu, Pokhara, Dharan, Chitwan and Butwal—where aspiring contestants will be vetted by judges rapper Lahure (Asish Rana), actor Deeya Maskey and media personality Raymon Das Shrestha. This year, the show will also see the return of last year’s finalists Saman Shrestha and Animesh Shahi as the show’s hosts.
For the second of 18 episodes, the contestants who flocked to the Butwal audition venue, Siddhartha Cottage, were put through a series of tests, before 12 select contestants faced the three judges in one-on-one sessions. Eventually, three contestants—Ayush Shrestha, Barsha Pun and Milan Khadka—were selected to continue on in the show.
Himalaya Roadies airs every Monday at 8 pm on Himalaya TV, with an additional half-an-hour ‘behind the scenes’ segments airing after the episodes.
