Minister requests to lift ban on NOC land
Aug 20, 2018-
Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Yadav has requested the parliamentary committee to lift the restrictions on the properties that the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) had purchased to store petroleum products.
In a meeting of the Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumers Interest Committee of Parliament on Sunday, Minister Yadav urged the panel members to allow the government to build fuel storage facilities by lifting the ban imposed on the land purchase deal after reports of corruption.
Yadav pledged to discontinue the syndicate imposed by petrol pumps and tankers that distribute and transport petroleum products. A lottery system, if necessary, could make the process of granting permission to operate tankers and pumps transparent, he said. Efforts are on to eliminate corruption from the industrial sector.
Earlier, members informed the minister about embezzlement of funds in NOC’S purchase of plots and the dealers and tankers’ monopoly with the distribution and transportation of petroleum products.
