‘Tribhuvan University should strive for quality education’

Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokhrel has said that Tribhuvan University (TU) should strive towards imparting quality education and producing competent and skilled graduates.
Addressing the 58th anniversary of Ratna Rajyalaxmi Campus in the Capital on Monday, he said that a university’s responsibility was more than just churning out graduates.
“A section of university graduates are unemployed.
Universities such as TU should not just focus on producing graduates, but developing skilled and competent individuals who could fit seamlessly in any job or career. Education should not be just about business,” he said.
Education Minister Pokhrel also declared that the government was planning to make Nepal a fully literate country in two years.
TU Vice- chancellor Tirtha Khaniya highlighted the contributions of Ratna Rajyalaxmi Campus towards promotion of education sector.
He also vowed to improve the quality of TU education system. The students who topped their classes were also honoured on the occasion.
The education minister and the TU vice-chancellor awarded Sabina Devkota (BA), Bishnu Duta Bhatta (MA in Economics), Anju Tamang (MA in English), Prem Kumar Shrestha (MA in Nepali) and Manil Maharjan (MA in Sociology) for their academic achievements.
