A ministerial-level meeting held at the Home Ministry on Friday decided to adopt the vehicle rationing plan to ease the traffic during the summit, which will see participation of the heads of state and high-level officials from seven member states.
Chief of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) Basanta Panta said the rule will apply to all the vehicles, except those catering essential services.
The odd-even rationing system will affect the movement of school vehicles. The government has not decided whether to announce school holidays during the summit period or request the schools in Kathmandu Valley to bear the inconvenience.
There are around 70,000 school vehicles in the Valley. (PR)
