Baitadi district is at a high risk of malaria. The district has recorded an increasing number of malaria patients in the last three years, according to Santosh Pandey, health assistant at the Baitadi Public Health Office. Several wards in Melauli Municipality, Shivanath Rural Municipality and Pancheshwor Rural Municipality in the Upper Swarad areas are in danger of this mosquito-borne disease. “Forty malaria patients have been recorded in these places in recent years,” said Pandey. He added that pregnant women and children in lower Swarad areas in the district are vulnerable the disease.
